President of EuroGeographics management board speak at  the “First Assembly of Surveyors of Serbia and Republic of Srpska”.

Tomaž Petek participated at a conference jointly organized by the Republic Geodetic Authority of Serbia and the Administration for Property and Legal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska. The conference brought together more than 500 geodetic experts from the region to discuss digitalisation, sustainable development and integration, as well as further directions and the importance of geodesy in modern society. 

During the conference, participants had the opportunity to discuss the cadastre of the 21st century, mass real estate valuation, the role of geodesy in achieving the goals of sustainable development and new technologies in geodesy. Guests from international and domestic surveying organizations presented best practices that created a platform for the exchange of experiences, ideas and innovations.

At the invitation of the organizers, president of EuroGeographics Management Board addressed the participants with a paper entitled: “Geospatial Ecosystem for Sustainable Development”, in which he presented the key challenges of sustainable development that are facing geodetic administrations that are members of EuroGeographics.

At the end of the conference, the participants also adopted a joint declaration, which more clearly defines the promotion of sustainable development and support for global goals, digitalization as a key strategy for the future, the integration of geospatial data and the creation of interoperable systems, the strengthening of cooperation and professional ties, the promotion of innovation and the use of new technologies, and the strengthening of professional independence and professional ethics.

The participants of the conference agreed on the necessity of institutional and organizational strengthening of geodetic institutions in order to ensure their efficiency, independence, sustainability and ability to respond to the complex requirements of modern society.

The conference was held from 13 to 15 October at the hotel “Fruške tereme” in Fruška gora.
